Rennes beats PSG by 1-0 to reduce gap in the points table

In just three games, PSG intractable in the first leg of the year has suffered two defeats, the second on the last day of the first round, against Stade Rennes (1-0) who took advantage of their chance and established the best streak in its history as a local in French League.

With this new setback from Christophe Galtier's team, which left Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi on the starting bench, whom he turned to at the beginning of the second half, the champion's income is only three points. A victory is what separates him from Lens, who beat PSG two rounds ago and beat Auxerre this weekend.

Neither with World Champion Lionel Messi and Neymar in attack nor with the self-confidence and drive of Warren Zaire Emery, the sixteen-year-old who made his debut as a starter worried the leader of Bruno Genesio's team, who showed that he knew the virtues of his team and made profitable his great opportunity to become strong at Roazhon Park and enter the European zone of the table.

But the undisguised local intent was evident from the start with a shot from Amine Gouiri that forced Gianluigi Donnarumma to step forward. PSG responded with a Danilo Pereira header to which Steve Mandanda responded splendidly at the start of the second half.

Galtier gave way to Mbappe and Achraf. He shot normally the coach of the Parisian team to accelerate and unbalance the clash after the balance and the lack of depth that he showed in the first half.

It had no effect. The Croatian Lovro Majer, in an action from set pieces, executed a shot that missed the net due to the intervention of Donnarumma again.

The goal came after an hour of play. Arthur Theate sent a ball behind the defender to Adrien Truffert who reached deep, exposed Achraf and crossed to Hamari Traoré who fired a low, cross-shot out of reach of the Italian goalkeeper.

The Paris Saint Germain rushed without order. No news from Messi and or Neymar, entangled in individual actions without a good end. Mbappe looked for the tie from the front with a high shot. And Juan Bernat had the last one, nine from the end, which Mandanda disrupted.
