SA T20 Final Match postponed to Sunday due to persistent rain
The first SA T20 Final match between PC and SEC, which was originally scheduled to be organised at the Wanderers on February 11, has been now postponed to February 12, Sunday, because of the wet outfield and inclement weather. The match will be played at 13:30 hours local i.e. 5:00 IST on the reserve day.
There has been persistent rain in Johannesburg for the previous few days but the weather report says that the conditions on Sunday will be better.
"The ground preparation for the match has been compromised, with the pitch remaining under covers for three days and over 200ml of rain falling since Wednesday this week. The SA Weather Service has predicted more showers for the remainder of Saturday, with a clearer outlook predicted for Sunday," stated the press release from SAT20.
Graeme Smith being the league commissioner added: "We've engaged the match officials, teams, groundsman, stakeholders and the SA Weather Service, and postponing the match is the best decision to allow for the possibility of a full match in drier conditions. We want to give the teams and spectators a memorable Final."
