Leicester shocks Liverpool, picks up all crucial three points against the Reds

Losing to Leicester is a huge and shocking blow for Liverpool for so many reasons. The team got some rest in the midweek as well when their fixture against Leeds United yet the Reds went down against the Foxes. It is not that the team has played some bad football but what happened is they missed way too many chances which ultimately might haunt them towards the end of the season.

Mohammed Salah is once again having a terrific season. He is the poster boy of the club and the Egyptian may very well be the Premier League player of the year but last night, he missed a penalty and also the rebound which might just cost Liverpool the title. It is because Manchester City is already six points ahead of Liverpool and the likes of Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane won’t be a part of the squad for a few games as the duo will represent their countries in the AFFCON competition. This is going to be a huge blow for the Reds and thus, they can’t drop points at the moment. Without their two prolific strikers for at least four game weeks is horrifying. Specially considering the fact that Mo Salah literally drives the club.

Against Leicester, the team missed a lot of chances and was taking unnecessary shots. They looked impatient and Leicester’s defense was rock solid to push them for long range shots. Kasper Schmeichel was absolutely brilliant for the club as he saved some definite goals in crucial moments. Finally, Ademola Lookman scored the goal for the foxes in the 59th minute to bring all three points for the team and with that, Liverpool’s 10 match unbeaten run came to an end.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s coach in the post match conference said, “We were just not good enough. We still had enough chances. What we did with the ball was just not right. We played a really bad game”. He added, “We should have defended better. We do that usually, why we didn’t do it today is hard to explain. There were so many performances below the normal level”.
