Shreyas Iyer declared fit ahead of Delhi Test

The Indian Cricket Board stated on Tuesday that Shreyas Iyer has been certified fit for the second Test against Australia in Delhi (February 14). As a consequence, following receiving permission from the Indian Cricket Board Medical Team, the middle-order batsman will join the squad in New Delhi.

Iyer has been out for about a month due to a back issue, which forced him to miss the recent New Zealand One-Day Internationals. His most recent performance for India came last month in an ODI series against Sri Lanka. Despite being chosen to the Test team for the Australia series, Iyer was unable to join the group for the first Test in Nagpur.

Suryakumar Yadav was given his Test debut in his absence. The swashbuckling hitter scored only 8 runs in the lone innings as India won by an innings. Iyer, who had lately secured his berth in the XI, is now anticipated to return to the XI in Delhi. The second Test will commence on February 17.

India's squad for second Test: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav
