The last match of the three-match Test series between Australia and South Africa is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). By the end of the second day's play, The Hosts have strengthened their hold on the match by scoring 475 runs at the loss of 4 wickets.

Due to bad light on the first day of the Sydney Test, only 47 overs of play could happened. On the first day, Australia scored 147 runs after losing 2 wickets. Moving ahead from this score on the second day, the Australian batters played excellent innings one after the other. At the beginning of the day, Australia shared a 209-run partnership for the third wicket between Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith.

The left-handed opener Usman Khawaja took his yesterday's score (54) to reach 195 runs and he is still unbeaten. Smith also played an excellent inning of 104 runs on day 2 of the third test. He also became the third Australian batter with the most test hundred with 30 in 92 matches taking over the legendary Australian batter Sir Don Bradman's 29 test hundreds. Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh are the only Australian batters who are ahead of him in terms of test hundreds with 41 and 32 respectively. After Smith's dismissal, Travis Head scored a blistering 70. At the end of the second day's play, Khawaja (195) and Matt Renshaw (5) returned pavilion not out.

For South Africa, Nortje got 2, Rabada and Maharaj got 1-1 wickets. The Australian team has already won this Test series. The Hosts won both the opening matches of this three-match Test series. In the first match, the Proteas team fought Australia to some extent, but in the second match, the Aussies won it with pure domination.
