Leonardo Spinazzola is the latest addition to Man Utd's possible left back alternatives

Manchester United have ostensibly shifted their attention towards Leonardo Spinazzola, with a favour being pursued from former boss Jose Mourinho.

The Special One spent two and a half years at the helm of Old Trafford before being informally sacked by the Glazers in December 2018. He won a Community Shield, a Carbaro Cup and a Europa League title with the Red Devils, and United have taken a lengthy time to rebuild since then.

The talks are still under process with current manager Erik Ten Hag keen to strengthen his ranks with a new left back. United are on the lookout for the vacant position as Luke Shaw’s untimely injury has aggravated their injury concerns. Shaw will now accompany Tyrell Malacia on the treatment table.

Italy international Leonardo Spinazzola is now reported to be on United’s radar, with Ginaluco Di Marzio stating that a Roma raid is being lined up. It is deemed highly unlikely that Mourinho would back out to the demands of his former employers, with transfer business proving problematic to compete at the Stadio Olimpico.

United do have numerous alternative choices on their left back shopping list, with links for a loan move of Chelsea outcast Marc Cucurella, Tottenham reject Sergio Reguillon, Lyon and World Cup winning star Nicolas Tagliafico and Barcelona veteran Marcos Alonso- who possesses Premier League experience from previous spells in England at Bolton, Sunderland and Chelsea.
