Suresh Raina takes a cheeky jibe on Shahid Afridi
“Mai Afridi nahi hoon” Raina’s Hilarious Reply when asked about comeback
At the current Legends T20 League, former Indian cricket team all-rounder Suresh Raina was questioned about a future comeback to international cricket. Still, his reaction to the query quickly went viral on social media. At the press conference following a match of IM, a reporter questioned Raina -"Everyone wants you back in the IPL after your performance tonight in Legends T20 League."
When asked whether there was any prospect of a return, Raina laughed and used Shahid Afridi's name as an example. "Main Suresh Raina hoon. Main Shahid Afridi nahi hoon. Retirement le chuka hoon (I'm Suresh Raina, not Shahid Afridi. I've taken retirement)," he said.
Former star of the Pakistan cricket team Shahid Afridi who announced his retirement from all forms of the game was cited as the reason for the allusion.
In the fourth match of the Legends T20 League at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium in Doha, IM dominated AL thanks to captain Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa's remarkable unbeaten 159-run opening stand to win a decisive 10-wicket victory.
With Uthappa scoring an undefeated 88 off 39 balls with 11 boundaries and five sixes and Gambhir scoring an unbeatable 61 off 36 balls with 12 boundaries, the opening combination destroyed the AL attack and put the Asian Town Cricket Stadium on fire.
IM, who chose to field first, had held AL to 157 for 5 in 20 overs. With 45 balls remaining, the IM won the game.
Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 32 off 27 balls with four boundaries and a six for the AL, while Upul Tharanga scored 69 off 48 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes. They put up a 73-run opening partnership in 8.4 overs, but it was all in vain.
