28th Match: RTW vs NRK

Preview

The last league match of the Tamil Andu T20 League 2023 will be played between the Ba11sy Trichy and the Nellai Royal Kings on Wednesday, July 5. The game is scheduled at the India Cement Company Ground at Tirunelveli. 

RTW has not won a single match out of the six matches they have played so far. They have their pride at stake and need to win this match. NRK on the other hand has qualified for the next stage by winning four out of the six league games.  

The Ba11sy Trichy side faced a humiliating defeat in the last match against the Chepauk Super Gillies. While batting first, CSG posted an average total of 129 runs and it was quite an easy chase for the Trichy batters. Skipper Ganga Sridhar Raju lead the bowling attack picking up 3 wickets with K Easwaran taking two to restrict the Super Gillies to a low-scoring total. In the second innings, the game was totally in control of the CSG bowlers. M Silambarasan led the attack claiming a fifer along with Sanjay Yadav who took 2 wickets. These two along with S Harish Kumar, Baba Aparajith and skipper Rahil Shah contributed significantly to CSG’s 58-run win. No batsman other than Daryl Ferrario (45 off 30) scored in double digits. 

NRK lost against Dindigul Dragons by 7 wickets during their last game. Royal Kings posted 159 runs with the services of skipper Arun Karthik (39 off 33) in the opening place along with Sonu Yadav and NS Harish played outstanding cameos of 22 and 34 runs, batting down the order. The efforts fainted in the bowler’s guild as the runs were not enough to stop DD from winning. The Dragons chased down the score in 19.3 overs with 7 wickets to spare. Only S Mohan Prasath and M Poiyamozhi picked up a wicket but that didn’t seem to be a match-winning effort.

Pitch Report

The pitch at the Indian Cement Company Ground will assist the spinners. They are going to come in handy in the middle overs with lots of turns available on the surface. The captain winning the toss will look to chase the target, with 160 runs being a respectable total at the ground.

In recent games, the pitch has slowed down a bit, allowing bowlers to have more of an impact on the outcome. The new ball should do nothing early on,  and allow batters to get their gaze in and try out their favourite shots to accumulate good runs in the powerplay overs.

Match Prediction

Though NRK lost their last match and failed to defend a decent total, they are still a much superior side than RTW this season. The Trichy side hasn’t won a single match this season and this season is like their worst nightmare. Overall we predict NRK to be the winner in the final match of this year’s Tamil Nadu T20 League’s group stage.
