Indian Cricket Board orders Pant to be airlifted to Mumbai
The Indian Cricket Board has ordered to airlift an injured Rishabh Pant from Dehradun. The secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, Jay Shah made this decision in a review meeting on Wednesday (January 4) with the board’s medical staff over the health update on Pant, who miraculously escaped from a freakish car accident recently.
The decision was taken after it was certified by the Indian Cricket Board and Max Hospital doctors in Dehradun, where the 25 year old is battling different injuries sustained from the car crash on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway on December 30. Pant will be airlifted to Mumbai on Wednesday itself.
Shah has requested the Board officials to shift Pant via an air ambulance for the treatment of his ligament tear on his right knee. Looking at the gravity of injury, we believe Pant will be out of action for almost six months.
The subsequent course of treatment will be determined by the doctors of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. As the report is being filed, we understand that a special Air Ambulance is being arranged for transporting the wicket keeper batter.
According to the Indian Cricket Board, Pant suffered two cuts on his forehead, injury on his right wrist, ankle, toe and abrasion injuries on his back apart from the ligament tear on his right knee in the accident. Soon after the mishap, Shah had assembled a medical unit which had advised the Dehradun hospital medical staff to refrain from treating his ligament tear.
The Indian Cricket Board had taken the responsibility upon itself to treat the injured player which will now be done in Mumbai.
A sense of urgency has been displayed by the Indian Cricket Board towards the Grade A cricketer. The Board has been trying to move him to Mumbai at the earliest without any hassle or inconvenience and the decision was ultimately take on Wednesday following a review meeting.
