Manchester Originals (MO) and Southern Brave (SB) will lock horns in the Eliminator of ‘The Hundred 2023’ at the Kennington Oval, London on Saturday. The two teams faced each other in the last league game and will once again be up against each other but this time for a bigger prize of reaching the final. 

SB got the better of their opponents in the last league encounter. Needing 131 for victory, SB lost Fin Allen early. Devon Conway and James Vince then infused momentum into the run chase before the latter was dismissed at 33. Vince’s wicket triggered a tiny batting collapse Leus Du Plooy (2) and Joe Weatherley (0) couldn’t contribute much and were removed in quick succession. The good thing for SB was Conway was still there and he was looking poised to take his team over the line. The fall of the fourth wicket brought Colin Ackerman to the crease. He and Conway ensured SB reaches home without any further jitters. Earlier in the day, Tymal Mills (3 wickets) and Rehan Ahmed (2 wickets) produced key breakthroughs at crucial junctures for their side and restricted MO to a modest 130.

A much improved performance in the second half helped MO find a spot in the Playoffs. They will be eager to avenge the previous game loss and fix a date with Oval Invincibles (OVI) in the Finals. Jos Butler and co will have a task and a half against a quality opposition which stands out in all the departments of the game.
