The Untold Story of Micheal Neser
The Michel Neser Story
After making tons of appearance in the domestic circuit, 31 year old Micheal Neser finally got his big break in 2021. The Australian international made his test debut earlier this month against England. Born in Pretoria, South Africa Neser moved to Queensland, Australia with his family when he was 10 where he was first introduced to cricket. He began playing junior cricket for Broadbeach-Robina Cats and made his first grade debut for the Gold Coast Dolphins at 17 years of age in February 2008. The bowling all rounder soon made his first class and List A cricket debuts in 2011 both for Queensland. The talented cricketer's heroics earned him a Aus-T20 League contract in the 2012-13 season. He didn't really made any significant impact in his first season but managed to turn heads in the following season. Neser played his second season of the T20 competition for Adelaide and instantly made headlines, picking 10 wickets at an impressive economy rate. That year he played a crucial part in the club's title win. Micheal continued his good form and made a strong case for his selection. In the 2018-19 season of the Marsh Shield, Micheal established himself as a Dukes specialist with 33 scalps along with extraordinary contributions with the bat throughout the season. A string of consistent performances in the domestic arena inched Neser closer to his debut. Now, it was just a matter of time. On June 13, 2018 Micheal ultimately made his debut in international cricket against England. The much awaited debut didn't however panned out the way as Neser would have liked. He was named in the playing XI for the next ODI fixture but failed to live up to his name. Neser's test journey also began in 2018 when he was named in the 15 member test squad for a two match tour against Pakistan. He however was never named in the playing XI. From that day until few months back from now, the exciting prospect vanished out of thin air. He represented Kangaroos at the local level but struggled to get a call back in the international circuit.
The lack of success in the early phase didn't stop the skilled cricketer from believing in himself. After getting sacked from the international level, Neser went back to the drawing board to work on his prowess as a fine all rounder. His dedicated eventually paid dividends and the resolute lad was presented with a second shot by the Australian cricket board. This time with the toughest challenge of his life. Neser was among the distinguished members selected for the all important Ashes. Test Cricket is a difficult challenge in itself but playing against England on familiar conditions is a different thing. Anyone familiar with Micheal's reputation were beyond keen to witness the 31 year old in action and boy oh boy he didn't disappoint. Neser's late blitz in the first innings propelled Australia's total. He then sent the whole Australia in elation when he claimed Hasib Hameed in his very second ball of test cricket. The 27,208 spectators roared in unison as Neser removed the english opener. Dawid Malan was his second test wicket. He wrapped him in front to peg back the visitors in the fourth innings of the match. Neser is more likely to play in the remaining fixtures and we hope this is just the beginning of something great for one of Australia's megastar.
