The 29-year-old Scottish footballer Andrew Robertson criticized Moises Caicedo following his horror tackle meant Ryan Gravenberch was stretchered off the field due to injury in Liverpool's Carabao Cup final against Chelsea. The Reds won the 2023/2024 Carabao Cup on Sunday (25th Feb 2024) at Wembley Stadium after beating Chelsea by 1-0. 

The Dutchman Virgil van Dijk scored in the 118th minute of extra time after taking advantage of a corner from Kostas Tsimikas to seal Liverpool's tenth Carabao Cup dramatically. A jubilant Klopp celebrated in style as he secured his eighth trophy for the Reds, but a first-half injury to Gravenberch put a damper on the win. After the match, Klopp confirmed that Gravenberch had suffered ligament damage in his ankle, and the Dutch midfielder was seen on crutches after the match.

"There were two teams that fought very hard and the referee was unable to match his leadership level in a match like this," Klopp told Sky Sports. “That's how it is, I'm sorry for that, I know now you're going to make a story about it but everyone saw it.” As is known, Caicedo was involved in a duel with Gravenberch in the 23rd minute when the former Ajax Amsterdam player wanted to pass the ball to his partner. However, Caicedo's late tackle caused him to immediately lie down and be carried off the field on a stretcher.

Unfortunately, as a result of this tackle, the 22-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder escaped a card from the referee. Suddenly, many Liverpool fans were quick to express their anger on social media. One disgruntled Reds fan wrote: "So glad we didn't sign Caicedo, he shouldn't have been allowed on the pitch."

Meanwhile, The Reds defender, Robertson, was also surprised by Caicedo's foul. However, he also hopes that his other teammates who are injured can recover quickly. "Ryan's [injury] was a very bad tackle. It can't describe it any other way," said the Scottish full-back. "It was a harsh tackle on his ankle and you have to hope it wasn't as bad as the pain he felt on the pitch, hopefully, we can get back to a fully fit squad soon so we can keep fighting until the end of the season.”
