The Rise of West Ham Under David Moyes

West Ham have seemed to be hitting a new high whenever they take the pitch under David Moyes. The Irons have shown drastic improvement post the reappointing of the Scottish maestro in 2019. The decision did not look overly inspiring at the time. Fast forward to 2021, the East London club are strong contenders to lift the Premier League title. They are just three points behind table toppers Chelsea who are the team to beat in this competition. The transformation from humdrum to a well oiled club is beyond commendable. The fine play on display and current standings proves their sixth place finish last season was not fluke. Hammers are undefeated in the Europa League so far and have knocked both the Manchester clubs out of the Carbaro Cup. In their recent PL fixture, they defeated Liverpool and put an end to their 25 game (in all competitions) unbeaten run. 

The new look West Ham is a team to be feared. They have stood toe to toe with the best in the league and it will be fascinating to see where they end up at the end of the season. The blistering form of striker Michail Antonio has also been instrumental for West Ham’s success this year. The 34 year old has been in fine nick and has scored 6 goals this season and is just behind Mohommad Salah (10 goals ) and Jamie Vardy (7 goals) in the Golden Boot race. In the process, the Jamaican international surpassed Paolo Di Canio to become all-time leading goal scorer for West Ham. He has enjoyed great support from Declan Rice  and Mark Noble. Others have also made invaluable contributions on the field. Moyes has given them the freedom to express themselves on field and as a result the players are excelling at their playing position.  His day to day work of improving players, clarifying their role on field, establishing a happy and well organized unit is certainly paying dividents.
