Team India is looking for Hardik Pandya for ODI Captaincy.

Team India has played under eight captains since their 2021 T20 World Cup Campaign. From Rishabh Pant to Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul, India has tried their best to find a joint captain for every format, like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. However, since Virat pulled down from the captaincy after the T20 world cup 2021, the Indian team could not find a durable option that would lead the team. Things were manageable when Kohli stepped down from the shortest-format captaincy. Still, they were tangled after the India Tour of South Africa in January 2022 when Virat left the test captaincy.

Now India has decided to go with Rohit Sharma’s captaincy with ‘A’ member’s team. But the main question is whether Rohit Sharma is a good captaincy option for the Indian team in all formats. Rohit was the target of Kohli’s fans and trollers after the terrible elimination from the world cup against England in the Semis.

Now the pin is moving toward Hardik Pandya’s option. Recently, team India also tried Hardik’s captaincy in Ireland and New Zealand’s tours in T20Is, where he performed great with the bat, ball, and captaincy and won the series. Adding to his glory, he is also the current champion of this year’s Indian T20 league, where he took command of his team for the first time on a grand stage.

There are many reasons why Hardik is looking for a good captaincy option for the Indian team in ODIs after the successful T20I leadership. His fitness, Hard hitting finishing ability, and all round-performing ability are three main reasons he can lead team India in ODIs. As we can see, Rohit gets Injured again and again before or during every series. He injured himself in an ongoing tour against Bangladesh in the ODI series. He is ruled out from the test series when the Test Championship is at stake.

According to the reports, he might not be available for the forthcoming New Zealand home series as the fracture of the thumb is critical at this stage.

Netizens are cracking the debate on Harik’s captaincy over Rohit Sharma for these reasons. The age of Rohit is also a factor that supports Hardik’s captaincy for India in ODIs. He is 35 and may play for the team for one or two years maximum. On the other hand, Pandya is looking for team captaincy, as he could be a long-term option for leadership.
