Marlon Samuels received a six-year ban under the Anti-corruption Code

The cricket world has come across a piece of shocking news just after the conclusion of the ODI World Championship 2023. Former West Indies Batter Marlon Samuels has been whiffed for six years by the apex cricket council. In September 2021, the right-handed WI batter was accused of four charges brought forth by the International Cricket Board in their role as the Designated Anti-Corruption Official under the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Code. However, earlier this year in August, the two-time T20 World Champion was found guilty of these offences. The apex cricket board has confirmed that this ban will endure for six years, commencing on 11 November 2023.

The 42-year-old Marlon Samuels has been banned by the International Cricket Board, as per the reports. "The Independent Anti-Bribery Tribunal has banned him from all forms of cricket for 6 years after finding him guilty of breaching the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Anti-Bribery Code," reads the statement. The board further stated that "Samuels was found guilty of breaching Rules 2.4.2, 2.4.3, 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the Code of Conduct."

For West Indies, Marlon Samuels has played 71 Tests, 207 ODIs and 67 T20Is. The middle-order batter has added 3917 runs in Tests at an average of 32.64 which further includes 7 centuries and 24 fifties. Also, Samuels has taken 41 wickets while bowling for the Men in Maroon. Additionally, he has scored 5606 runs in ODIs at an average of 32.97. During this time he has also scored 10 centuries and 30 fifties and has scalped 89 wickets in ODIs.

Additionally, Marlon Samuels has played 1611 matches in T20 at an average of 29.29. In this, he has managed to score 10 fifties. Also, has taken 22 wickets while bowling in T20. Not to forget, Samuels’ one of the most destructive and match innings that came back in the 2016 T20 World Championship final against England where he smashed an unbeaten 85 off 66 balls that guided WI to secure its second T20I trophy.
