Hero with the ball in the second test against South Africa, Green might miss the test series against India

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green suffered a finger injury during the Melbourne Test against South Africa, due to which he was also ruled out of the last Test against the Proteas. Green is set to undergo surgery after he consulted a specialist.

The 23-year-old Green, got such an injury within 5 days after Indian T20 league franchise Mumbai got him for a whopping ₹17.5 crores. Following his injury, the 5-times League champion Mumbai's money is at stake. There are questions about Green's fitness and there is a fear of him missing out on the upcoming Indian T20 league which can give a headache to Rohit Sharma’s blue army. But there is another concern in Green's mind that he might miss the upcoming important Border Gavaskar Trophy against India in 2023.

Green said that he will try his best to be fit for this historic Test series, known as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, as it will be a very important tour. While he batted with his fractured finger and struck a well-compiled fifty at MCG, the tall all-rounder was not allowed to bowl while the medical staff was positive that Starc would be able to bowl without aggravating.

Emphasis on being fit for the India tour

Australia has not won any Test series in India for the last 19 years. The Aussies want to end this wait, and Green wants to get fit soon. The news agency quoted Green's statement issued by Cricket Australia as saying, “The atmosphere in Australia's dressing room is fantastic and I will miss it. I will do everything possible from my side to be fully fit for the tour of India.”

Green also knows that India's tour is going to be mentally and physically challenging but he does not want to miss it. The Australian all-rounder said "many people talk about the Indian tour, and how tough it is mentally and physically. This will be a very important tour for us. We are ready for this as always, so I am very excited about this tour."

Green visited India in September this year, where he played stormy innings with the bat in 3 matches T20I series against India. Apart from this, his performance has also been good for Australia at ODI and Test levels. This is the reason that Mumbai spent ₹17.50 crores on him in the Indian T20 League auction which took place on December 23.
