Women's IND T20 League auction: Jemimah goes to Delhi for ₹2.2 cr, Mandhana to Bangalore for ₹3.40 cr, Harmanpreet to Mumbai for ₹1.80 cr, Deepti to UP for ₹2.6 cr

 

On Monday, In the ongoing first-ever Women's Indian T20 League auction where team India's Women skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was bought by Mumbai for ₹1.80 crores. It was a long round of bidding for the 33-year-old right-handed batter, but in the end, Mumbai signed her for the inaugural edition of the Women's India T20 League.

On the other hand, team India's left-handed opening star batter Smriti Mandhana was whoppingly attracted by the Banglore team early as she became the first pick in the Women’s IND T20 League auction history, being bought by Bangalore for ₹3.40 Cr. The second costliest Indian player so far is all-rounder Deepti Sharma who was bought by UP for Rs 2.6 crore.

However, Women in Blue's skipper Harmanpreet Kaur came much cheaper for Mumbai at nearly half the price of Mandhana at  ₹1.80 crores. Delhi gets their first player of the auction as they successfully bid for last night's match-winner with the bat against IND-W vs PAK-W match, Jemimah Rodrigues at ₹ 2.2 crores. Another opening batter and destructive player and U-19 T20 World Series winning captain Shefali Verma gets a successful bid of ₹ 2 crores by Delhi.

One of the prominent picks during the first round was Aussies' off-spin all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner, who was bought by Gautam Adani-owned Gujarat for ₹3.20 crores becoming the second costliest of the auction so far. Aussies star all-rounder Ellyse Perry received a cool ₹ 1.70 crore winning bid from Bangalore who also got Black Caps' captain Sophie Devine dirt cheap at a base price of ₹50 lakhs and both the match winners of their respective sides are set to join Smriti Mandhana in the league for Bangalore.

Bangalore side already exhausted ₹5.60 crores out of ₹12 crore purse and they need to get another 12 players with the rest of the ₹6.40 crore to have a mandatory squad size of 15 players. UP side also got England left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone on board for ₹1.80 crores.
