The 10th match of the Women’s World T20 Cup 2023 is between PAK-W versus IRE-W. The match is scheduled at the Newlands in Cape Town on Wednesday, February 15. Pakistan would be looking for their first win as they take on Ireland Women. Both teams started with a defeat in this tournament. PAK-W went down against IND-W in their inaugural match while IRE-W suffered a loss against ENG-W. 

Pakistan Women lost the match against India by seven wickets after drafting the highest total in T20 World Championship history. Skipper Bismah Maroof and Ayesha Naseem played crucial knocks for the team. Naseem scored 43 runs off 25 balls whereas Maroof went on to score smash her first half-century since December 2019. Nashra Sandhu scrapped two timbers and Sadia Iqbal took one wicket but lost the match eventually to India. 

Ireland Women faced Englan in their first fixture. They managed to post only 105 runs while batting first. Gaby Lewis scored the most i.e. 36 runs off 37 deliveries. Cara Murray took three wickets giving away just 15 runs in three overs. Barring them, the rest of the players didn’t have any impact on the match. This Ireland team defeated the mighty Australia Women in the warm-up game and defined their class in World cricket, but eventually failed to create an upset on the matchday against England.

Ireland Women toured Pakistan in November last year in which they clashed for a three-match T20I series. They became victorious in the series by a 2-1 margin and that will surely give them some confidence before this fixture. In the World T20 Cup, the two sides have faced off twice and Pakistan won in both of the encounters which is indeed a positive point for the Pakistan side.
