Women's World T20 Cup
3rd Match: AUS-W vs NZ-W
Preview
The third match of the Women’s World Cup 2023 will spark new excitement amongst the fans as the two big birds Australia and New Zealand will clash on Saturday, 11 February 2023. The match is scheduled at Boland Park in Paarl.
AUS-W is the best team in the tournament as they have not only won the last two T20 World Championships but also because the squad has lost only one T20I match in their previous 17 games.
NZ-W had got a convincing win over India by 44 runs in a warm-up game just before the tournament. Beth Mooney (28 runs) and Georgia Wareham (32) were good with the bat and Darcie Brown rocked with the ball (4/17).
Australia has an unfair amount of batters and bowlers in their squad. Tahila McGrath and Beth Mooney are two of the greats to watch for along with skipper Meg Lanning, Ash Gardner and Ellyse Perry who are equally fierce with the bat. Beth Mooney is probably the best of them with 418 runs and has an average of 69.66 in their previous 10 matches.
Ash Gardner is a fantastic option with the ball as she went on to pick 11 wickets in her last 10 matches. Also, our eyes will be on Schutt and Brown as they are some comfortable wicket-taking options to rely on.
New Zealand on the other side are playing well and are coming off with a series sweep against Bangladesh. NZ also became victorious against West Indies in the warm-up march by 32 runs, with Maddy Green scoring 47 runs and Amelia Kerr picking up 3 wickets being the most outstanding performers of the match.
New Zealand has an idea of how much it is difficult to beat Australia. But they will be quite confident as they have won two out of their last five duels against the champion team. Sophie Devine will be the player to watch as she is the team’s greatest batter with 285 runs scored in her last 10 games but has some injury concerns.
The best form is expected from Green, Kerr and Bates with regard to their batting but is quite uncertain about their bowling and how they can perform against the White Ferns. Though there is a good lineup of bowlers like Kerr, Jensen and Jonas who are capable of performing under pressure and will keep it tight for the NZ batters.
