Pakistan and Sri Lanka will lock horns in match number 8 of the ongoing edition of the World ODI Cup on Tuesday, October 10 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Despite winning their opening encounter, Babar Azam and co would not be pleased with the way they started their World Cup campaign. They will look to come up with a much improved show against SL. Their Asian neighbours on the other hand lost their opening tie against South Africa. 

Pakistan are traditionally good against spinners but off late Babar and co have had a few problems against the slow bowlers. With the opposition having the likes of Maheesh Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage in their ranks, the men in green will be wary of the threat ahead. Both the spin bowlers, though, conceded plenty of runs in the 102-run thrashing by South Africa in Delhi. 

Positioned in the city for nearly 10 days now and having already played a handful of matches, including the two warm up games, the Shaheens are aware of the playing conditions at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal. 

But still, they looked unsettled against Netherlands in their tournament opener, at one instance being reduced to 38/3 before Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel steadied the ship for them. Pakistan’s innings was wrapped at 286 with an over to spare. 

Their bowlers then finished the job, bundling out the associate nation for 205. Harris Rauf was Pakistan’s pick of the bowlers. He finished the game with impressive match figures of 3/43. 

The 1999 winners are coming off a hammering at the hands of Proteas who shattered quite a few records with the bat the other day. What could work in Sri Lanka’s favour in this match is that, unlike the Pakistanis, a lot of their players are familiar with the Indian conditions, having actively been involved in the Indian T20 League.
