Kane Williamson shatters multiple records in the Test series against the Proteas

New Zealand star player Kane Williamson drafted history as he reached his 32nd Test Century in the second innings of the recently concluded 2nd Test match on Friday, February 16. 

The 33-year-old right-handed batter remained unbeaten on 133 runs facing 260 balls, hitting 12 fours and 2 sixes while chasing a total of 267. Williamson is in sublime touch as he pounded three centuries in the two-match Test series against South Africa. 

During the first Test, Kane struck back-to-back tons. It is worth noting that Williamson’s seventh hundred in his previous seven matches. With this incredible feat, the star Kiwis batsman broke the record of Australia’s Steve Smith to become the fastest batter to reach 32 Test Centuries. While Smith took 174 innings, Kane took two less to achieve this milestone. 

The World No.1 Ranked Test batter has now levelled the record with Pakistan’s Younis Khan for the most hundreds in the fourth innings of a Test match. Both of the Test greats have five tons to their name in the last innings of a Test match. 

Also, it was Williamson’s sixth triple-figure score against South Africa matching Jacques Kallis’ record for most centuries in New Zealand-South Africa Tests. 

The Blackcaps scripted history for the first time by defeating the Proteas 2-0 in the two-match Test series.
